What We Believe

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Our Savior Lutheran Church is a member of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and subscribes to the LCMS Belief and Practice.

We believe, teach and confess that...

  • God has saved us and called us to share His love with others.
  • The entire Bible (the 66 canonical books of the Old and New Testament) is the inerrant, inspired Word of God, and is authoritative and relevant for doctrine and all areas of life.
  • There is only one God and He has revealed Himself in Holy Scripture (the Bible) as a three person God, - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each of the three persons is a distinct person of the Godhead, having His own identity, and yet each is fully God.
  • All people have sinned and would be separated from God eternally, had He not reached out in love to save His creation through the life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus Christ is both true God and true man. By His perfect life He fulfilled God's righteous Law for all people. He suffered the punishment for the sins of everyone by His death on the cross. Everyone who trusts God's promise of forgiveness through Christ has eternal life, and will experience a bodily resurrection to eternal life with Him upon the New Earth of perfection.
  • People are given the gift of faith by means of God's Holy Spirit, who works such faith through the hearing or reading of God’s Word (the Bible), through Baptism and through the Lord's Supper.

We are justified by grace alone (sola gratia), through faith alone (sola fide), for the sake of Christ alone (solus Christus), a truth revealed to us in Scripture alone (sola Scriptura).

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”
